Pinjarra Primary School students taste tested freshly baked hot cross buns from Pinjarra Bakery and Patisserie ahead of the busy Easter rush.
The local bakery is donating $1 from every six-pack of hot cross buns sold to Foodbank WA. The money raised will help the not-for-profit purchase more food to meet the soaring demand for hunger relief throughout the state.
Jodie Pantaleo from Pinjarra Bakery said, “we are so pleased to be working with Foodbank WA by giving our community the opportunity to contribute to this fantastic cause. We hope to sell a record amount of Hot Cross Buns this year.”
Foodbank WA is the largest hunger relief charity in the state providing more than 5.7 million meals a year to people in need. They also run the largest School Breakfast Program in the state, providing a nutritious breakfast to more than 18,000 students every week.
Pinjarra Primary School is one of 440 schools registered for the School Breakfast Breakfast Program which runs two days a week, feeding up to 50 students each day.
Foodbank WA CEO Greg Hebble said “this is a fantastic local initiative with every dollar donated helping provide two meals for West Aussies who are struggling to make ends meet.”
“While most of us enjoy a treat or two at Easter time, sadly there are thousands of families who will go without food to afford to keep a roof over their head and pay this bill,” he said.
This is a very easy way for you to make a difference.
