website Foodbank WA has been proudly supported by BHP Billiton since 2011, to deliver a wide range of healthy eating and cooking programs to communities throughout the Pilbara region. Watch an overview of our program here. Working in partnership with local community organisations Foodbank WA’s qualified nutritionists and dietitians travel to Jigalong, Kunawarritji, Marble Bar, Newman, Nullagine, Parnngurr, Port Hedland, Punmu, South Hedland, Strelley, Warralong and Yandeyarra to support and deliver the following programs:

 Foodbank School Breakfast Program

We provide quality food to registered Foodbank School Breakfast Program schools, free of charge. This ensures that all students have an equal opportunity to enjoy a wholesome and nutritious breakfast on a regular basis. Products include non-perishable SBP canned fruit in natural juice, wheat biscuits, oats, Vegemite, canned spaghetti, canned baked beans, UHT milk and 100% unsweetened UHT orange juice.

Food Sensations® in Schools

Food Sensations® healthy eating and cooking workshops are delivered free of charge to registered Foodbank School Breakfast Program schools. Students learn new recipes and ways to use ingredients that are both delicious and nutritious. Food Sensations® is a hands on and fun way for students to learn how to eat well and the activities are linked to the Australian National Curriculum. Schools in the region can book student sessions, parent sessions and teacher training.

Fuel Your Future

Fuel Your Future is a healthy eating and cooking program designed especially for youth (12-18 years). The program consists of four fun, hands on and interactive workshops that help build confidence and while enhancing food planning, preparation and cooking skills . Youth centres and schools in the Pilbara region can register for the FREE program.

Food Sensations® for Parents

Food Sensations® for Parents is a healthy eating and cooking program designed especially for parents of 0-5 year old children. The four-series program empowers parents with knowledge and skills to provide nutritious meals for themselves and their families. Playgroups and parent centres in the region are able to register for the FREE program.

Food Sensations® Educator Training

Food Sensations® Educator Training is designed to equip health and community professionals with the educational strategies and resources required to promote healthy eating in their local community. Foodbank WA is committed to collaboration through partnerships and building the capacity of local health and community services to further promote healthy eating and cooking to those in need.
